How to Get There

Reach via I-70 exits 203-205. Trailheads are within minutes of the main towns. Summit Express bus connects trailheads during summer.

Permit Information

No trailhead permits required beyond standard USFS parking passes. Some popular trailheads fill by 7 AM on summer weekends.

Summit County sits at the center of Colorado's ski and trail culture, with the Tenmile Range forming its eastern skyline. The area is defined by easy access from I-70, a dense network of trails connecting Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, Keystone, and Copper Mountain, and a strong summer hiking scene. Quandary Peak is the most popular 14er in the area, while the Tenmile Range traverse, the Gore Range trails, and the Summit County Pass routes provide other hiking options. The county also has an extensive paved bike trail network connecting the towns along the Blue River valley.
