Wilson Peak is the iconic fourteener depicted on Coors Banquet beer cans for decades and one of three 14ers in the San Miguel Range west of Telluride (alongside Mount Wilson and El Diente). The standard Southwest Ridge route from Rock of Ages Trailhead is a 10-mile, 4,000-foot Class 3 climb with a notable false summit and a tricky downclimb just below the true summit. The route passes through the historic Silver Pick mining district. The peak frames sweeping views of the San Juan Mountains, Lizard Head Wilderness, and the red rock of southwestern Colorado.
