Where to Try

RiNo Art District (Denver) brewery crawl, Old Town Fort Collins brewery cluster, Boulder's Pearl Street area, and Durango's Main Avenue.

Colorado has the highest concentration of craft breweries per capita among major US states, with over 450 breweries statewide and more than 150 in the Denver metro area alone. The state's beer identity is built on the Colorado-style IPA, the American sour ale pioneered at places like New Belgium and Crooked Stave, high-altitude lagers, and a culture that treats breweries as community living rooms. Major breweries include New Belgium (Fort Collins), Odell (Fort Collins), Great Divide (Denver), Avery (Boulder), Oskar Blues (Longmont), Left Hand (Longmont), and Breckenridge Brewery. The Great American Beer Festival in Denver each fall is the largest beer festival in the country.
