About this place

Rocky Mountain National Park is the most-visited national park in Colorado and one of the defining landscapes of the Southern Rockies. Trail Ridge Road climbs above treeline to 12,183 feet and connects the park's eastern (Estes Park) and western (Grand Lake) entrances across the Continental Divide. The park preserves 265,000 acres of forest, alpine tundra, glacial valleys, subalpine lakes, and montane meadows. Wildlife includes elk, bighorn sheep, moose, black bears, and yellow-bellied marmots. Trail access ranges from easy lakeside walks to demanding peak summits like Longs Peak (14,259 ft). Timed entry permits are required during peak summer months.
